Smithers Avanza Toxicology Services Adds Peter Capozziello as Director, Business Development

Smithers Avanza, a boutique contract research organization (CRO) supporting the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, named Peter Capozziello its new Director, Business Development. The addition aligns with the organization’s strategy to maintain and augment its high standard for client service as demands for toxicology testing of pharmaceutical and chemical products continues to grow.

Capozziello possesses 10 years of finance and sales experience with his previous five years spent in the pharmaceutical research space. As Director, Business Development for Smithers Avanza, he will be responsible for planning and executing a comprehensive sales strategy with the goal of driving sales growth for Smithers Avanza’s toxicology services business.

“Peter’s well-rounded knowledge of our industry along with his expertise in finance and sales will be an asset both to our organization and to our clients,” said Michael Dorato, PhD, DABT, Fellow ATS, Executive Vice President, Smithers Avanza Toxicology Services. “This is an important addition to our team as we continue to grow in step with our clients’ needs for our services.”

Prior to joining Smithers Avanza, Capozziello served as Regional Account Manager for Triangle Research Labs, now part of the Lonza Group. There he successfully increased territory revenue by 100% per year for two consecutive years. Before his time at Lonza, Capozziello worked as a financial analyst and business development proposal lead for Catalent Pharma Solutions. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Accounting and Management from John Carroll University.
