Optimization of Lyophilization and alternatives to conventional Freeze-Drying methods
SMi Group reports: Alina Alexeenko of Purdue University presenting LyoHub’s overview and strategies for the future of lyophilization and alternatives to conventional methods
Optimization of Lyophilization is the quest for the industry. The process of lyophilization is used to stabilize products susceptible to physical and chemical degradation, and is often time-consuming, expensive, and has an energy efficiency of less than 5 percent. The rise of biologics, which are heavily reliant on the lyophilization process, drives the need for an upgraded preservation approach. A consortium of researchers and members of various industries, including the pharmaceutical, food-processing, and equipment sectors joining forces at the Purdue University’s Advanced Lyophilization Technology Hub (LyoHub) to modernize the freeze-drying process, which has not changed fundamentally in 70 years. SMi Group is pleased to have Alina Alexeenko, Associate Professor of Purdue University and Co-Director of the LyoHub, on board for the 4th Annual Lyophilization USA Conference (November 15 – 16, New Jersey). Alina will be presenting presenting the LyoHub’s overview and strategies for the future of lyophilization. Alina’s presentation is forming a part on the programme devoted to the topic of ‘Beyond vial Lyophilization’ with the outlook at alternatives to conventional methods.
Another presentation of this section will give you insights on vacuum-foam drying technology and, will be delivered by Alex Langford of Pfizer.
Check out the agenda of SMi’s Lyophilization USA Conference at lyophilization-usa.com, which features presentations and discussions from industry experts on: novel techniques and advances in lyophilization; regulatory challenges and how to overcome them; current unmet needs within lyophilization and action points to address these needs; and the most recent analytical and other technologies in lyophilization.
Also on the programme – two interactive pre-conference workshops, on November 14:
AM: Current and future freeze-drying technologies and methods.
Hosted by Alexander Tambovzev and Dena Flamm of Optima Pharma
PM: NIPTE: insight into the fundamentals of freeze-drying / lyophilization.
Hosted by Robin Bogner, University of Connecticut
